The service took place at Lord St West United Church under the auspices of the Reverend Peter Lyth who is the minister for the church. The great and the good were all there including the Provincial Grand Master Mark Matthews and many grand and Provincial grand officers. It was nice to see so many of the rank-and-file Masons there with their families.
Banks Brass Band played for the congregation while the procession assembled and accompanied the carols. The procession, led by Paul Heaney, paraded in and they were welcomed by the minister. The brethren sang the opening ode and a traditional service of nine readings and carols.
Readers for the afternoon service were; Brian King, Alister Sainter, Dave Paton, Chris Lathom, Jez Williams, Jean Morris, Malcolm Alexander, Frank Umbers and Peter Lyth
The readings were interspersed with carols including two played by the band and then the minister gave a short address and the brethren sang the closing ode.
Thanks go to Steve Booth for organising this event, which certainly was a good start to Christmas.
