The Grimsargh Field Day is a traditional carnival and village celebration. Situated just outside Preston, Grimsargh is a wonderful village community, with the whole village turning out on a lovely sunny day for the field day.
At the start of the day, a colourful parade took place from the village hall on to the village green. Schools, churches, scout and guide groups all came together along with some very clever floats. All this accompanied by a good old fashioned brass band as well and a Caribbean steel band. As a tradition, the Rose Queen was crowned and the main ring was full of entertainment for the whole of the afternoon. On top of that, there was a superb funfair for the kids, which all cumulated with a great community spirit.
All around the arena were local traders, food stalls and obviously the Women’s Institute Cake tent, and so it was a real joy for Preston Masons to join in the fun for the first time. They set up the colourful and striking Provincial gazebo on the green amongst the many other groups, which encouraged the community to pop in and find out about Freemasonry and what Freemasons do in the community.
On the green, a great BBQ was set up by the organisers, which was a great source of lunch as all made the most of the sunny day. Good friends and food were enjoyed by all, on this wonderful sunny day. Grimsargh is part of the wider Preston community and Assistant Provincial Grand Master Jonathan Heaton along with Tim Horton, Noel Colley, Cliff Jones and Peter Caunce of the Preston Group were so happy to share in the grand day out
