A breezy but fine Sunday morning in Cleveleys saw 22 diners comprising brethren and family members gather at the recently refurbished Tramway restaurant for a delightful Sunday morning breakfast. This very popular light blues club led by chairman Ian Fell, secretary Del Hernen and treasurer Andy Greenlees organises regular monthly events to attract light blue brethren and their families from across the Fylde Coast.

The Tramway caters quickly and efficiently and within the first 15 minutes everyone was tucking into their favourite breakfast food from the hot plates accompanied by unlimited hot drinks. During the meal, John Topping, visiting officer for the North Fylde Group, discussed with Ian Fell the service of thanksgiving that had taken place just the previous day at St Ambrose Church, Leyland as part of the Province’s celebrations of 200 years of Freemasonry in West Lancashire.
John pointed to the format of the service and praised the work of Provincial Grand Chaplain Rev. John Hall, for the entertaining and commendable manner in which he had conducted the service of thanksgiving. John Topping also drew Ian Fell’s attention to the final page of the order of service which focused on the upcoming special meeting of Provincial Grand Lodge on Friday 27 November at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool, to which all light blues including entered apprentices, fellow crafts and master Masons will be very welcome to attend.
Towards the end of the Sunday breakfast, Ian Fell rose to his feet and thanked everyone for their continued support of the Fylde light blues. Ian gave details of the £1,900 raised at various Fylde light blue events over the previous year and informed everyone that £1,300 had been donated to local charities and £560 will be given to the upcoming 2027 Festival. It is the intention to donate 30% annually of all funds raised by Fylde light blues to the 2027 Festival.
Ian spoke for a short time about the 200 year celebrations and urged all brethren to consider attending the November Provincial Grand Lodge meeting and the celebratory meal afterwards. Ian also announced that the July meeting of Fylde light blues would be a breakfast at Farmer Parrs Animal World at Fleetwood. Ian received a round of applause for his thank you speech and his continued hard work as chairman of the Fylde light blues.
