A particularly charitable proclamation was held at the installation ceremony of Fermor Chapter No 1313. The occasion was particularly noteworthy for the Southport Group Chairman Phil Stock, who was making his first visit as a representative of the Grand Superintendent Mark Matthews.
Phil stepped in as the representative due to an Assistant to the Provincial Grand Principals being unable to attend due to personal circumstances. The chapter companions were however very pleased to welcome Phil, as both an old friend of the chapter and who’s own deputy group chairman Brian Griffiths was acting as director of ceremonies for the evening.
The ceremony was a proclamation as all three principals had been elected to remain in office for a second year. In a pleasant atmosphere of old friends meeting, the proceedings were executed swiftly and efficiently under the watchful eye of Brian, who continued to hold the chapter to the high standards that have been the hallmark of his Masonic career.
Well liked Alister Sainter remained as first principal with Vic Foulds remaining as second principal and Peter Stones remaining as third principal. Following the appointment of the officers, Phil stood and displayed his customary oratory skills, instantly putting the companions in the room at ease while conveying the congratulations and best wishes of the Grand Master Mark Matthews for another happy, successful and busy year ahead.
The three principals then presented Phil with an extremely generous number of cheques for such a small chapter. To Phil’s great applause, the donations were; £100 to Arthritis Research, £100 to Blood Cancer Research, £150 to the Southport Masonic Hall Foundation and £100 to the West Lancashire Freemasons’ Charity, a grand total of £450.00.
Once the business of the evening was concluded, all the companions retired to a particularly convivial festive board, where the atmosphere of old friends carried the companions joyously late into the evening.
