On a fine spring evening brethren and guests, which included visiting officer Peter Roberts, of Yachtsman’s Lodge No 3698 met at the Geoffrey Hirst Masonic Suite within Woolton Golf Club to raise two members of the lodge. WM Len Jones opened the lodge in due form and the usual opening business was conducted. Len then requested Phil Gambrill to occupy the chair for the ceremony with Stephen Lyons acting as junior warden and Stan Merrill acting as senior warden. Arthur Merrill acted as inner guard in order that Mark Williams could be raised.

The lodge was opened to the second degree and Phil asked if there was any brother present desirous of being raised to the sublime degree of a master mason. Mark Williams, who had been initiated into the lodge in February 2022 and Christopher Ramsdale, who had been initiated in May 2024 both rose and gave proof of their proficiency of the second degree.
The two brethren answered the usual questions and were entrusted and retired from the lodge so that the tyler, Tommy Lunt, could prepare them for the next part of the ceremony. Phil opened the lodge to the third degree and both fellow crafts were duly announced by the tyler and both entered the lodge so that the ceremony of raising could continue. The explanation of the working tools of the degree were provided by Stan Merrill. After the ceremony, the traditional history was explained in fine form to them by Alan Ledger, a member of Anfield Lodge No 2215.
Phil Gambrill asked the WM Len Jones to resume his rightful place in the lodge and Len congratulated both brethren and asked them to take their places within the lodge. After a collection for alms had been taken and communications received, the lodge was closed in due form so that the brethren could continue their festivities at the dinner. This was the last time that the lodge would meet at the Golf Club and the brethren were looking forward to continuing their Masonic happiness at their new venue.
