Brethren of Greenhill Lodge No 6260 came together to celebrate the 79 years since the lodge was consecrated. With the loss of a handful of their members, the lodge brethren decided, after initially trying to save the lodge, that they were not able to continue and handed in their warrant.
Craig Horrigan, who was installed as master of Greenhill Lodge in March 2024, opened the lodge for the closing ceremony which was attended by Assistant Provincial Grand Master Peter Lockett and Assistant to the Provincial Grand Principals Paul Hesketh. Also accompanied by David Bishop the group chairman, Provincial Junior Grand Warden and group vice chairman Mike Silver and Provincial Senior Grand Deacon Keith Bennett.
Also present was Ufuoma Unuajohwofia who was presented with his grand lodge certificate and thanked the lodge brethren for their support and warm welcome. After hearing from several members, it was good to know that the lodge members were joining other lodges in the Chorley and Leyland Group to continue their Masonic journey and friendship.
On closing the lodge, there were tears from long standing members as they remembered the fantastic members and memories that graced their lodge room. Together they processed out of the lodge room for the last time, followed by their guests and visitors.
The festive board was lively and full of life, despite the sadness of the occasion, but although it was the final chapter for Greenhill Lodge, it wasn’t for its members, best wishes for them for the future in their new lodges.
