The members of Lodge of Equity and Appleton No 1384 arrived early at Widnes Masonic Hall to witness the installation of Cameron Molyneux into the chair of King Solomon for the first time.

The lodge was opened in the first degree by WM Robert (Bob) Winch. After conducting the lodge’s business, they swiftly moved up to the third degree to welcome Robb Fitzsimmons the representative of the Provincial Grand Master Mark Matthews. Robb was warmly greeted by Bob, who expressed hope that he would enjoy his time at Lodge of Equity and Appleton.
Before taking his chair, Robb was presented with an envelope containing charitable donations made by the lodge, Robb thanked the lodge for their generosity and for all their great work throughout the year. Before continuing with the ceremony of installation, Bob expressed gratitude to the brethren for the tremendous support he had received during his year in office and stated that he was confident that Cameron would receive the same goodwill and assistance.
Cameron Molyneux’s installation into the chair of King Solomon began with a remarkable ritual conducted by Bob. The working tools were presented confidently and precisely by Thomas Rafferty, Colin Bascombe, and Norman Speed in that order. As the ceremony progressed the address to WM Cameron Molyneux was delivered by his great-uncle, Thomas Rafferty this heartfelt moment not only honoured Cameron’s ascent into the WM’s chair but also highlighted the deep familial ties that enriched the occasion.

Ian Edge, the lodge director of ceremonies, stepped onto the floor and requested that all brethren of Lodge of Equity and Appleton stand. He then escorted Robb Fitzsimmons to the southeast corner, where Robb addressed the brethren of the lodge. Robb delivered his address to the brethren with sincerity and spoke flawlessly.
In conclusion, Robb conveyed the greetings of the Provincial Grand Master Mark Matthews, saying that if Mark had been there, he would have congratulated everyone who participated in the fabulous installation ceremony. Robb mentioned that Mark would undoubtedly have shaken the hand of the installing master, Bob, for a job well done. He also acknowledged DC Ian, who kept everyone on track and ensured the ceremony was conducted with dignity and decorum.

The festive board was a joyful occasion filled with delicious food, wonderful company and plenty of laughter. The moment everyone had been eagerly anticipating had finally arrived; the Master’s Song, performed by Norman Pritchard in his unique style. The lodge provided a glass of whisky for all the brethren to toast the new WM Cameron Molyneux, which certainly helped loosen the vocal cords of those who were ready to join in the chorus.
At the festive board, a raffle was held for Masonic and non-Masonic charities and the amount raised when combined with that taken in the temple was the magnificent sum of £370.10p. Cameron’s evening was a great success and one which everyone is sure he will remember for years to come.
