The Southport Group Light Blues Club started the new year with a fantastic curry night, setting the tone for an exciting year ahead. The evening began at The Windmill pub, where members gathered for drinks before heading to the Shamraat Indian restaurant for a delicious feast.
Leading the way as always were Paul Dwan and Alister Sainter, supported by many familiar faces including Southport Group Chairman Phil Stock and Southport Group Secretary Richard Jenkinson. The informal setting provided an excellent opportunity for new Masons to meet and engage with brethren of all ages and experience in an informal setting, fostering friendships that can last a lifetime and allowing valuable insights to be shared!
The inclusion of experienced dark blues ensured a lively and enjoyable atmosphere, with much laughter throughout the evening. The restaurant’s generous spread of Indian cuisine was well complemented by flowing Cobra beers, creating a truly memorable occasion. Adding to the excitement was the presence of Elliott Boyd-Preece, the 18-year-old son of Darren Boyd-Preece, the new Southport Masonic Hall Manager.
After mingling with the brethren and hearing about their experiences, Elliott expressed his keen interest in joining the fraternity, a prospect that delighted his father. Everyone present pledged to support Elliott’s initiation, with a date to be confirmed.
As the evening concluded, plans were made for the next gathering, where the Provincial Grand Master Mark Matthews has already confirmed his attendance! The Southport Group Light Blues Club continues to go from strength to strength, bringing members together through good food, great company and lasting friendships. All new Masons looking for companionship are very welcome to join the next meeting, with details available from their lodge secretary!
