Once again Liverpool Group stepped up to answer the call to support the Provincial Food Bank Appeal in 2024. To continue the success of the appeal in previous years, the group supported the Breckfield & North Everton Neighbourhood Council (BNENC) Food Bank.
BNENC provides support to vulnerable residents in the Breckfield, North Everton and other districts across the city. It provides facilities throughout the year to families, elderly residents and vulnerable people who struggle to make ends meet under the current financial climate.
Access is provided to BNENC’s in-house specialist advisor regarding welfare rights to anybody seeking such support. It delivers a support programme for residents who are classed as clinically extremely vulnerable via it’s Kick Start 2 Health Team. This work includes access to mental health counsellors, health and exercise workshops, crime prevention advice and access to IT hubs.
Spiritual and pastoral care is available via Trinity Church, Everton. It provides activities for local 10 to 17-year-olds, such as sports and fitness, trips out, cooking workshops and 1 to 1 support. This helps to keep local youngsters away from exposure to gang culture.
The BNENC is a registered charity, and the staff are very receptive and appreciative of our support. They readily engage with us throughout the year. Personal thanks to Paul Robinson MBE, who is a key worker within the organisation, for arranging the food to be collected and the personal delivery of hampers within the community.
Entirely due to the generosity of brethren and companions meeting in Liverpool Masonic Hall, Hope Street, we have also been able to support other local food banks, such as St Andrew’s Church. The total raised during 2024 was a magnificent £5,280, which includes £3,000 so generously donated by West Lancashire Freemasons’ Charity, to whom we express our sincere gratitude for their involvement and support.
Liverpool Group Chairman Dave Johnson said: “I am extremely proud to be associated with all the Freemasons who meet under the banner of the Liverpool Group, and I am always humbled by their charitable and generous nature. Be assured, thanks to them, Christmas was made a whole lot better for so many vulnerable people.”

Liverpool Group Chairman.
