It was a family affair at Heysham Lodge No 4108 as Michael Reeve was installed as master of the lodge for his first time by his cousin Darren Reeve, in the presence of Philip Preston, the representative of Provincial Grand Master Mark Matthews.
Philip was accompanied by PProvGM Tony Harrison, PAProvGM David Grainger, PAProvGM Keith Kemp and grand officers Alan Jones, Michael Church-Taylor and Paul Broadley. Chris Larder, Vice Chairman of the Lancaster and District Group and group secretary Daniel Crossley were joined by Provincial Assistant Grand Pursuivant Syd Bateson and Provincial Grand Steward Stuart Bateson.
The lodge was opened by the WM Darren Reeve who conducted the installation ceremony together with director of ceremonies Torquil MacLeod. The installing officers were; senior warden Mike Lyon, junior warden Mike Brown and inner guard Trevor Horn.
Master elect Michael Reeve was presented for installation by Torquil MacLeod, who is an uncle to installing master Darren Reeve and step father of master elect Michael Reeve and immediate past master Christian Reeve.
Working tools of the third degree were presented by Ian Byrom. Fellow craft Markus Waine presented the working tools of the second degree and entered apprentice Dan Holley presented the first degree working tools in fine fashion.
Michael appointed Malcolm Graham as senior warden and Ian Byrom as junior warden. The address to the master was given by Torquil MacLeod, the address to the wardens was given by Keith Kemp and the address to the brethren of Heysham lodge by Philip Preston. The address to the stewards was given by acting Provincial Grand Steward Stuart Bateson. Philip was presented with a list of donations that the lodge had made to Masonic and non-Masonic charities totalling £6,093.50. Philip gave thanks to the brethren of Heysham Lodge for their very generous donations.
The organist was David Tattersall and the master’s Song was performed by John Bates. A total of 42 brethren attended the festive board, during which, the toast to the WM was given by Torquil MacLeod. The raffle at the festive board raised £505.
WM Michael Reeve was born at Royal Lancaster Infirmary in September 1980. He lives in Morecambe with his wife Kelly and their 10-year-old son. Michael is a Project Manager for EDF Heysham 1 Power Station. His hobbies are holidays and socialising. Michael was initiated into Heysham Lodge on 21 March 2014, passed on19 September 2014 and raised on 17 April 2015. He has held every progressive office in the lodge with the exception of inner guard.
