Brethren of Childwall Lodge No 5235 hosted their installation meeting at Liverpool Masonic Hall in the presence of Past Assistant Provincial Grand Master Kevin Poynton and Dave Johnson, the Liverpool Group Chairman. Also, in attendance was Roy Ashley together with other visiting Provincial Grand Officers.
The ceremony was well performed with senior brethren of the lodge joining in the ritual to ensure that the master elect, Richard McKenna, was able to relax and enjoy his special night. With over 30 brethren in attendance the atmosphere was lively and convivial with Kevin doing his very best to bring his own sense of fun to the occasion.
It was especially pleasing to see three master Masons presenting the working tools of each degree with great skill and authority. The future of Childwall Lodge looks very bright with seven master Masons progressing well on the lodge ladder. The ritual is always of the very highest standard in this fine old lodge, very much to the credit of the past masters and senior members.
The festive board rounded off a great night, with delicious cream of mushroom soup, roast leg of lamb, plus veggies and apple pie with ice cream on offer from the hall caterers. During his response to the toast 3, Kevin encouraged the brethren to enjoy their Freemasonry, whilst continuing to recruit new members going forward. He appealed to the senior members to encourage brethren to join a Royal Arch chapter as soon as they can comfortably do so. He thanked Dave Johnson for his hard work as Group Chairman and paid tribute to Roy Ashley for his contributions over many years in the Craft.
Kevin thanked the brethren for their most generous donations on the night of £1,275, to charities and local good causes. A superb amount which will be gratefully received and faithfully applied. The night was rounded off with the tyler’s toast completing yet another successful installation ceremony in the history of Childwall Lodge.
