A very dreary day in Newcastle saw Shaun Haynes complete his eighth Great North Run, sponsored by A J Bell. Shaun, an avid runner, can be seen training regularly with his running groups around Stanley Park in Blackpool and on the promenade.
This year alone Shaun has completed some 250 miles training. Having run in previous years to raise funds for various non-Masonic charities, including Mind, this year he chose the Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF), to celebrate his year as first principle of Saturnian Chapter No 7563.
Shaun was looking forward to the day and was hoping for good weather. Some 65,000 runners of all abilities took part, to raise money for a wide range of charities and causes. At the start, Shaun was relieved that there was a lovely fine drizzle in the air which lasted throughout the event keeping all the runners nice and cool. Shaun completed the event in a very creditable time of one hour, 54 minutes and 14 seconds.
So far Shaun has raised over £200 for the MCF. If you would like to support Shaun with his efforts, and of course the MFC, then you can do so by clicking here.
