Tom Norris, a member of Rufford Lodge No 7217, has celebrated his 95th birthday with friends, family and staff at the Marley Court Care Home, near Chorley.
Tom was a well-known coal merchant in Heskin for a long of his working life. He was initiated into Rufford Lodge in May 1966 and he received promotion to the grand rank of PAGDC in 1996 and has since been made an honorary member of the lodge.
He was exalted into Chapter of Unity and Perseverance No 580 in December 1967 and was a founder member of St Michael’s Chapter No 5756 in 1987. Tom is well known throughout the Province and is a dedicated and popular Freemason having help raised considerable sums of money for the charities.
Tom’s granddaughter, who is an accomplished singer, entertained everyone during the evening and was accompanied by Tom’s son on keyboards, making it a wonderful evening which was enjoyed by all.
Unfortunately, numbers had been limited by the size of the venue. Rather than gifts, Tom requested a donation for the Derian House Children’s Hospice which generously raised £450.
