Horwich Chapter No 2324 hosted a very special installation ceremony at Ridgmont House, and saw Roger Sherlock installed as first principal. The chapter was delighted to welcome as its principal guest Colin Rowling, Past Assistant to the Provincial Grand Principals, representing the Grand Superintendent Mark Matthews.
Colin was accompanied by the local Assistant to the Provincial Grand Principals Paul Hesketh, who was acting as assistant director of ceremonies for the chapter. Also in attendance was Ian Higham, Past Third Provincial Grand Principal, along with grand officers David Harrison, Ken Shaw, Frank Wilkinson and Neil Ward. Group chairman Peter Allen and acting Provincial grand officers Gary Smith, David McKee, Derek English, Jayson Jackson and Ian White were also present.
The chapter was opened by the first principal Derek Robinson with his co-principals Roger Sherlock and Bryn Hart. Following the administrative business of the chapter, Colin Rowling and his colourful entourage entered the chapter room to be warmly welcomed by the three principals.
The installation ceremony saw Roger Sherlock installed at first principal, Bryn Hart and second and Frank Bowling as third in fine style. At the conclusion of the ceremony Colin brought the greetings of the Grand Superintendent Mark Mathews, congratulating all who had taken part in an excellent installation ceremony of the highest standard.
Roger then had the pleasant duty of presenting amounts given to charity during Derek Robinsons year in office which amounted to; £200 to West Lancashire Freemasons’ Charity, £150 to Northwest Blood Bikes, £150 to Fortalice, £100 to Derian House, £100 to Bolton Hospice, £100 to Prostate Cancer UK and £200 to Ridgmont House. Colin Rowling thanked all of the companions for their generosity for the grand total of £1,000 donated.
Following the evenings business, all retired to a wonderful festive board where the Principal’s Song was rendered by David Harrison. A raffle at the festive board raised £200 to further the chapters charitable endeavours.
