Maggie’s is a charity that provides free expert care and support in centres across the UK and online. Their cancer care specialists, psychologists and benefits advisors provide help and care for patients and their loved ones.
The charity was founded by Maggie Keswick Jencks and she used her experience of cancer to create a new type of cancer care, centres offering professional support, bringing people together in a calm, friendly, uplifting space. In each of Maggie’s centres people will find a bright and welcoming space full of the kind of support that people facing cancer need and deserve.
Their long-term aim is to have a Maggie’s at every major cancer hospital in the UK. By 2027, they aim to support almost 500,000 visits from people with cancer and their families every year. In the next five years their aim is to be planned at or operational at half (30) of all major NHS cancer centres in the UK.
As part of the charitable donations at the installation meeting of Borough Lodge No 3996, the new master of the lodge David Makinson was delighted to present a cheque for £250 to Assistant Provincial Grand Master Peter Schofield to be passed on to the charity,
