The companions and visitors of Blackpool Chapter No 1476 assembled in the chapter room at Blackpool Masonic Hall to witness a unique installation convocation, unique in the sense that all of the three principals elect are members of the Rectitude Lodge of Blackpool No 4122.
Omne trium perfectum (everything that comes in threes is perfect). Michael Sjollema as third principal is currently the master, John-Paul Lovie as second principal is the lodge director of ceremonies and Bob Marsden as first principal is the almoner of the lodge.
On a report, the chapter director of ceremonies Ray Lamb announced that Malcolm Alexander, Assistant to the Provincial Grand Principals requested admission. Malcolm processed into the chapter room accompanied by the Blackpool Group Chairman Stephen Jelly and the other group officers, along with three acting Provincial grand officers David Edwards, Paul Hardman and Steve Willingham, all of whom are Provincial Grand Stewards.
Malcolm was welcomed into the chapter and once the general business had been concluded the three principals elect were duly installed into their respective chairs. Michael Sjollema as third principal, John-Paul Lovie as second principal and the omnipresent Bob Marsden as first principal. Robe addresses were presented by Mark Heelis, Brian Ogden, and Gary Wainwright.
At the festive board, the toast to the three principals was delivered by Terry Barlow who is also a member of Rectitude Lodge of Blackpool. Terry informed the companions that he proposed two of them into Blackpool Chapter and he also exalted John-Paul and Michael into the chapter. Bob Marsden joined from Bispham-with-Norbreck Chapter No 4731 to support his friends.
After a very enjoyable meal and friendly companionship, the three principals’ song was sung by John Darrell accompanied by George Holden on the piano.
