The annual Spring Social held at Warrington Masonic Hall is a well-established and regular event to mark the start of spring for the Lodge of Lights No 148. However, this year the weather was not a seasonal indication of warmer temperatures to come and the event took place at the end of a very wet rainy period.
This didn’t deter almost 50 members, wives and guests with spring in mind joining the event. All experienced a warm welcome from friends old and new and were not missing the cold and wet outside temperatures. The event was planned as usual by the social committee led by Dave Tabron as social secretary. It has established itself as an ideal way to bring people out of their homes and join in with some fun and hopefully to generate funds for charity.
The master of the lodge, Clive Kinton, along with his lady Lesley, extended a warm welcome to everyone and hoped that an enjoyable evening would follow. The assembled people enjoyed an excellent three-course meal, of pate, roast beef, followed by sticky toffee pudding, with grace being offered by John Starkey (Chaplain), who later returned thanks.
Following the meal, a raffle took place with the many quality and varied prizes distributed to the lucky winners. Entertainment followed the meal with dancing to Colin Gibson, a popular vocalist who sang a wide selection of songs to which some people were dancing, or singing along. It seemed that all present joined in to make it an entertaining evening.
The event was very successful and enjoyed by all. Clive closed the evening by thanking everyone for their support and generosity. He also wished everyone a safe journey home.
