Brian Davey and Dave Sear, both Past Provincial Junior Grand Wardens, are no strangers to hard work and clearly very conversant with some of the less well-known aspects of Masonic ritual in its many forms. A glorious example has been amply evinced at Hindpool Lodge No 1225.
As demonstrated in the Emulation Lodge of Improvement in London, firstly Brian, assisted by Dave, worked the fourth section of the first lecture. Secondly, Dave worked the seventh section of the first lecture, assisted by Brian.
This work had not been seen in the Furness and South Lakeland Group since the Lodge of Instruction folded many years ago, but was warmly received and greatly enjoyed by the brethren in attendance. In the absence of the master of the lodge Paul Musgrave due to illness, IPM Stephen Renney had opened the lodge in due and ancient form, before inviting Brian and Dave onto the floor.
The ritual took the form of call and response, and the fascinating detail of the work and the precision of it held the assembly enraptured. Upon completion, they were thanked with acclaim from the brethren and words of gratitude from Stephen. Dave quipped that next time they should have a rehearsal, unnecessary in the view of your scribe.
