It was a night to remember for Ralph Vincent as he was installed into the first principal’s chair of Wilderswood Chapter No 5932, at Ridgmont House in Horwich. It is the first occasion that Ralph has occupied that chair, having been exalted into the chapter some 18 years ago.
The outgoing first principal Peter Schofield installed his successor in fine style, but sadly, the second principal Elect Gary Matthews was unable to attend on the evening, however Gary Hacking was installed into the third principal’s chair for his first time.
For the installation, the chapter companions were honoured to welcome as its principal guest, the Second Provincial Grand Principal Mike Threlfall, who gave the address to the companions of the chapter in a flawless manner. Also in attendance was the local Assistant to the Provincial Grand Principals Paul Hesketh, along with other grand officers.
Peter Allen, Chairman of the Chorley and Leyland Group was present, along with no less than five acting Provincial grand officers attending including the Provincial Grand Scribe Nehemiah Ian Stirling made it a most enjoyable evening. David Boyes, Assistant to the Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies, ensured that the proceedings flowed in a seamless manner.
Following the closure of the installation convocation, all companions retired to an eagerly awaited festive board, filled with much happiness and enjoyment. Mike Threlfall rounded off the evening by giving a compelling and informative oration, which was well received by all present. Ralph humbly responded to the toast to his health and said he was really looking forward to a most enjoyable year ahead as Wilderswood Chapter’s first principal.
