Southport Group’s grand officers turned out in force to celebrate the golden jubilee of their fellow grand officer and much respected, former group chairman and pillar of the Southport Group, Bryan Henshaw.
Bryan was exalted into Royal Arch Masonry on 15 of January 1974 and 50 years later to the day, he celebrated his golden jubilee at a North Meols Chapter No 5828 convocation at Southport Masonic Hall. Principal guest for the celebration convocation was Malcolm Alexander.
In all, there were eight grand officers present at the ceremony, which was led by Assistant to the Provincial Grand Principles Malcolm Alexander, who delivered a comprehensive and very interesting résumé of Bryan’s private, professional and Masonic life, which involved him travelling all over the globe with his work.
Malcolm’s résumé was completed by a proclamation of Bryan’s 50th Patent which was given by group scribe Ezra and Provincial Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies Paul Hardman. Malcolm Alexander then gave a congratulatory address to Bryan, which was met with great applause by all present.
Following on from Malcolm’s address, first principal Paul Carson asked that it be put on record, the chapters sincere thanks for the tremendous efforts that have been made by all involved in the preparation of such a harmonious and pleasant presentation.
After the convocation was closed, 47 companions then retired to a splendid festive board at which Bryan was further presented with cards, signed by everyone present and a caricature of Bryan drawn by Paul Hardman.
