The Intact Centre on Whitby Avenue, Ingol, Preston has been making a difference since 1993 and provides a lifeline for many who find food security a major issue. Whitby’s Pantry provides a food club where members pay £5 per week and are able to take £25 worth of grocery items from the Pantry.
Whitby’s Pantry provides access to good food while the member feels a degree of dignity by making some payment into the service. In recent months, food poverty has worsened and Intact has risen to the challenge. Intact converted its food project into a community pantry, to be run and used by local people. Whitby’s Pantry was officially launched at an event on Wednesday 19th June 2019.

The Masons in Preston Guild Lodge No 4408 have a mantra to keep ever mindful of the needs of others. Throughout 2023, the lodge brethren have donated £1,000 worth of groceries to Whitby’s Pantry. Included in that donation were some Christmas items such as Cadburys Selection Boxes, mince pies and shortbread. These were gifted as extras over and above the usual 20 items to bring a little Christmas joy.
A team of members from the lodge were humbled to deliver the items and thanks go to Aldi at Fulwood Central for their help in compiling the order.
