Ashton Food Aid is a volunteer led foodbank based at St Andrews Church Hall on Tulketh Road in Preston. In these days of cost challenges, food insecurity is a real issue for many families. The excellent volunteers of Ashton Food Aid and their families happily give their free time to helping those in need.
The foodbank opens twice a week on Wednesdays and Fridays from 12:30pm until 1:45pm. In addition, the volunteers carry out emergency deliveries when needed. Running parallel to this is the Ashton Clothes Bank which recycles much needed clothing to people who find buying good clothes a challenge.
Brethren from the Preston Group of Freemasons were humbled to support these marvellous people by providing £500 worth of groceries. Members of the group executive, vice chairman David Parker and membership officer Simon Wright made a delivery of over 400 items to St Andrews Church Hall. This delivery was just in time as the foodbank was expecting to support some 35 families that afternoon.
