Over 60 members, family and friends gathered together at Preston Masonic Hall for the Preston Guild Lodge No 4408 annual Christmas Dinner. The Mayor of Preston, Councillor Yakub Patel being the guest of honour.
Before the dinner the lodge had a short meeting and as a result, the Mayor was able to meet not only the master of the lodge David Gregson, but also Assistant Provincial Grand Master Peter Lockett and Assistant to the Provincial Grand Principals Paul Hesketh. The Mayor then enjoyed a tour of the Masonic meeting rooms
Throughout the dinner, guests were entertained by a challenging Christmas quiz. Well, the lodge is a Universities Scheme Lodge after all and the winners scored 28 out of 32 which is of no surprise. The quiz certainly entertained and educated all.
Father Christmas made a brief pre-Christmas appearance in the Ballroom. He left everyone a little early present of some chocolates, as if everyone had not eaten enough. Then before he rushed back to the North Pole, he wished everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Before departing, the Mayor addressed the members and guests. He thanked Preston Guild Lodge for all the charitable work they had done over the year and the way the lodge had supported the local community. He said that the lodge was an important and valued member of the Preston Community and wished that would continue in the future.
With a rousing chorus of ‘We wish you a merry Christmas’, the night came to a happy ending.
