Fermor Lodge No 1313, resonated with tradition and brotherhood in February, as the lodge gathered for a truly landmark regular meeting. The evening was defined by a flawless transition of ritualistic skill and a forward-looking approach to the future of the Craft.
For the brethren, the highlight of the evening was seeing Alan Davies raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason. In a heartwarming display of lodge roles, Alan, who is the lodge’s inner guard took centre stage for his ceremony, while Alan Jervis kindly stepped in to cover his duties.
The ceremony was opened with trademark precision by the Master of the lodge Damon Noone Jr. After the initial business was concluded, Damon took great delight in delegating the chair of King Solomon to Brian Griffiths. In what can only be described as a masterclass of ritual.
Brian conducted the bulk of the third degree, supported by the equally proficient Chris Latham. Alan Davies was expertly guided through his journey by senior deacon Rich Higgins and junior deacon Damon Noone Sr who stood in at the last minute.
It was clear that the vibrancy of Fermor Lodge was on full display during the ceremony. Following the ceremony, the lodge processed two proposals for new members and one proposal for a joining mason. These additions further solidify Fermor Lodge’s reputation as a welcoming home for both those new to the Craft and experienced Masons looking for a fresh start.
The evening didn’t end with the ritual. The festive board took on a special significance as the brethren were joined by several ‘gentlemen to dine’. This initiative invited non-Masons into the social heart of the lodge, allowing them to experience the camaraderie and charity that define our order.
Everyone agreed that the event was a resounding success, fostering great conversation and sparking interest in those looking to begin their own Masonic journey and the momentum at Fermor Lodge shows no signs of slowing down. The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, 4th March, where the lodge looks forward to initiating yet another candidate into their ranks.
