£3,341 for St Catherine’s Hospice
St Catherine’s Hospice has received more than £4,700 from Freemasonry. Two cheques were presented to auxiliary nurse Jacky Green by the Chairman of the Leyland Group of Masonic Lodges, Peter Hadfield.
The first cheque was for £3,341 from the Freemasons’ Grand Charity and the other was for £1,400 from Carnarvon Lodge No 2376.
Carnarvon Lodge had decided to make the donation in memory of WBro Frederick J Massey, a former member of the lodge, who was tenderly nursed by hospice staff before losing his battle with leukemia.

Euxton Lodge excels with Gold Patron
Wellington Park was the venue for some 57 brethren to assemble at Euxton Lodge to witness the Installation of Senior Warden Bill Nelson. In the unavoidable absence of WM Brian Haslam, due to work abroad, Installing Master John Knowles undertook the work in fine style.
The lodge later presented the representative of the PGM, 2010 Festival Chairman Stuart Thornber, with a further donation of £1,000 towards the Festival to raise Euxton Lodge to Gold Patron status in the 2010 Appeal.
Stuart presented the lodge with a Gold Patron Certificate to mark the occasion and thanked members warmly for their sterling efforts for the Festival.
At a splendid Festive Board Stuart took the opportunity to praise the excellent work of Charity Steward Arthur Walmsley and wished him well on his forthcoming promotion to Past Provincial Deputy Grand Superintendent of Works and congratulated David Finch on his recent first appointment to Past Provincial Junior Grand Deacon. Brethren showed their warm appreciation of these announcements.
The evening was crowned with a delightful rendition of the Master’s Song by John Wilmer.

PGM visits Eccleston Lodge No 7754
The Provincial Grand Master, Peter Hosker, accompanied by the Provincial team, Frank Wilkinson (Assistant Provincial Grand Master) and many other Grand and Provincial Grand Officers attended the Installation meeting of Eccleston Lodge No 7754 at Wellington Park, Leyland.
The Installing Master Lawrence Alston was assisted by the Provincial Wardens who occupied the Wardens’ Chairs during the ceremony to install Peter Whalen and WBro David Hall who assisted Lawrence for the final part of the ceremony.
At the end of the ceremony, Peter Whalen presented Peter Hosker with a cheque to the value of £1,400. Peter thanked the members of the lodge on behalf of the 2010 Festival, which he noted took the Lodge’s total donation to the 2010 festival to £6,000 as they had already received a Grand Patrons Certificate for their previous generous donations to the 2010 festival.
Peter also said that it was great to see the Address to the Master being given by Peter’s son Steven, who was appointed as one of the Steward’s of the Lodge for the ensuing year.
At the social board, David Durling, Provincial Junior Grand Warden whilst responding to the toast to Provincial Officers paid tribute to the excellent work done by Lawrence and the rest of the officers and junior brethren who had taken part in the ceremony.
